Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Physiotherapist role located in Reykjavík. The Physiotherapist will provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for players, focusing on injury prevention, recovery, and performance optimization. Daily tasks include conducting musculoskeletal evaluations, creating individualized treatment and exercise programs, and delivering hands-on therapy before and after training sessions and matches. The role involves close collaboration with coaching staff and other medical professionals to monitor player fitness, manage return-to-play protocols, and contribute to load management and screening processes. The Physiotherapist will also maintain accurate clinical records, support education on health and injury prevention for players, and participate in planning for preseason and in-season medical needs.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification in physiotherapy (bachelor’s or master’s degree) and valid license/registration to practice physiotherapy.
- Experience in sports physiotherapy, preferably working with elite or semi-professional athletes or teams.
- Strong skills in musculoskeletal assessment, manual therapy, and exercise-based rehabilitation.
- Ability to design and implement injury prevention programs and return-to-play protocols in collaboration with coaches and medical staff.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, match-driven environment, including evenings and weekends as required by the competition schedule.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust with players and multidisciplinary staff.
- Strong organizational skills, including accurate documentation and management of player medical records.
- Working knowledge of sports science principles, such as load management, recovery strategies, and performance monitoring.
- Basic familiarity with relevant rehabilitation technologies and tools (e.g., assessment software, exercise equipment, taping techniques).
- Fluency in English; Icelandic language skills are an advantage but not required.
